Sicily: Celebration of the Feast of Saint Calogerus in Sciacca

Sciacca (province of Agrigento), May 26, 2026 – A representation of the Constantinian Order of Saint George, composed of Commander Baldassare Cacioppo and Knight Officer Giuseppe Lipari, participated in the Solemn Eucharist in honor of Saint Calogerus, co-patron of the city, at the invitation of the parish priest Friar Giuseppe Gentile, a Franciscan friar of the Third Order Regular, brother and Constantinian Chaplain. The solemn Holy Mass, officiated in the Basilica Sanctuary Parish of San Calogero al Monte, was presided over by the Most Reverend Monsignor Friar Calogero Favata T.O.R., Provincial Minister of Sicily and Chaplain of the Constantinian Order. The Basilica of San Calogero is a place of worship located on the peak of Mount Kronio, a hill overlooking the city of Sciacca. Founded in the 12th century, the sanctuary houses the relics of the Saint and is led by the Franciscan friars of the Third Order Regular. During the greeting to the assembly, words of deep gratitude for the presence and participation of the Constantinian Knights were expressed by the Provincial Minister, Friar Calogero Favata T.O.R. The latter urged all those present to spread love and acceptance. He invited everyone to be credible through their testimony and their lives, giving to others what they desire for themselves. As recalled by Friar Giuseppe Gentile, the organizers wished to dedicate the feast to the theme of peace, recalling the message of His Holiness Pope Francesco: “Before being a destination, peace is a presence and a path.” The event was attended by the mayor of Sciacca, Dr. Fabio Termine, as well as many faithful, several Confraternities, and the Saint Calogerus committees of Sicily. After the Holy Mass, the procession of the Sacred Relics took place, culminating in a fraternal agape with tastings of local products. On the sidelines of the celebrations,
