CALABRIA: ACTIVITIES OF MAY, JUNE, AND JULY 2025

Reggio Calabria – The Delegation delivered 50 liters of olive oil to the parish of Santa Maria della Candelora. The oil will be used to prepare meals that the parish soup kitchen regularly offers to those most in need and the less fortunate.

On Friday, June 20, 2025, a solemn Eucharistic celebration took place at the Church of the Candelora in Reggio Calabria to mark the 65th anniversary of the Priestly Ordination of His Excellency Most Reverend Monsignor Vittorio Luigi Mondello, Archbishop Emeritus of Reggio Calabria-Bova and Prior of the Calabria Delegation. The Holy Mass, celebrated by Monsignor Mondello himself, was attended by a large assembly of the faithful, further enriched by the presence of numerous parish priests from the archdiocese, including the Reverend Don Luigi Cannizzo, Ecclesiastical Commander of Grace and Vice Prior of the Calabria Delegation. Representatives of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George – Calabria Delegation, led by the Delegation Master of Ceremonies, Commander of Merit Carlo Parisio, and the Sovereign Military Order of Malta – Reggio Calabria Delegation, represented by the Delegate, Knight of Honor and Devotion Marquis Antonio Ramirez, also participated with deep devotion, alongside numerous dames and knights from both Chivalric Orders. At the conclusion of the celebration, those present gathered in a spirit of fraternity to also share a joyful moment in honor of the feast day of the Reverend Don Luigi Cannizzo.

The Vice Delegate for Calabria, Knight of Grand Cross of Merit Aurelio Badolati, participated in the evocative procession for the Madonna of Capocolonna; a moment of spiritual unity that involves the entire city. Walking alongside him following the Sacred Image were Antonio Oliverio, Knight of Grace and Representative for the city of Crotone, and the Knight of Merit Vito Michele De Caro, who attended in the “dual role” of president of the National Association of Sailors of Italy. Knight of Grace Nicola Oliverio was also present to welcome them.

On May 28, the Calabria Delegation donated 70 single-portion hot meals to the parish Caritas of the Candelora in Reggio Calabria. Heartfelt thanks go to all the volunteers of the Candelora Caritas, who with dedication and love represent a point of reference every day for many people in difficulty. The commitment of the Dames, Knights, and Meritorious Members of the Calabria Delegation of the Sacred Constantinian Militia does not stop here. We will continue, with humility and determination, to be present where the need is greatest. A special thanks also goes to Knight Campolo for his commitment, generosity, and constant dedication to the charitable works of the Order.

On July 1st, in the presence of Monsignor Dario de Paola, chaplain of the city of Cosenza, and Deacon Francesco Summaria, Caritas Director, a donation of fifty pairs of new shoes was made by our Sacred Militia in the parish premises of the Church of Santa Teresa in Cosenza. These will be destined for the community of Filipino children and their educators.

Polistena (RC), July 17, 2025. On the occasion of the patronal feast of Santa Marina Vergine, the Calabria Delegation made a food donation to the “Il Samaritano” Association of Polistena, an organization active in supporting the most fragile segments of the population.

Reggio Calabria, July 21, 2025. The solidarity action of the Calabria Delegation continues. This morning, the delegation donated a substantial quantity of croissants intended for the breakfast of the people assisted by the parish Caritas of the Church of the Candelora in Reggio Calabria.

A renewed partnership guided by the sense of Christian charity took place in the city of Crotone: the local representation responded promptly to the appeal of the “Padre Pio” Soup Kitchen. The Constantinian Knights donated, prepared, and finally served meals to the destitute people who turn daily to this diocesan institution, which was founded in 1997 and has since been managed by Monsignor Pancrazio Limina, dean of the city’s clergy and president of the Cathedral Chapter of the Diocese of Crotone – Santa Severina. The Vice Delegate for Calabria, Knight of Grand Cross Aurelio Badolati, the local representative, Knight of Grace Antonio Oliverio, and the Knight of Merit Vito Michele De Caro first provided a large stock of essential food items and a substantial amount of chicken meat. Then, they personally prepared and served lunch to dozens of people whose only form of sustenance is the “Padre Pio” kitchen. Knight of Grace Nicola Oliverio and Knight of Merit Alessandro Cuomo also contributed to the donation, although they were unable to attend in person. Scouts from the Agesci 1 group of Mussolente, in the Vicenza area, who were guests of the parish of Santa Chiara and visiting the city, also contributed to the preparation of the meals.
