SICILY: RECENT ACTIVIES OF THE DELEGATION

On June 21st, at the Mother Church of Alcamo, the Solemn Pontifical Mass was held in honor of Mary Most Holy of Miracles, Patron Saint of Alcamo, in the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta. The rite was celebrated by the Most Reverend H.E. Monsignor Alessandro Damiano, Archbishop of Agrigento, in the presence of a representation of Constantinian knights, Noble Comm. Pier Francesco Mistretta, and knights Antonio Vitiello, Gaetano Di Gaetano, and Francesco Bianco.

On June 19th, in Piazza Armerina, at the Church of Santo Stefano, the well-established donation activity of food products and clothing for children aged zero to three took place. This is one of the countless initiatives of the “Briciole di salute” Project by the Knights of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order, Sicily Delegation.
Commander Matteo Bertino, with the collaboration of Knight Officer Alessandro Balsamo and Knights Marco Milazzo, Elio Virone, Claudio Fazzi, and Salvatore Balsamo, delivered clothing, toys, and food items for the children of the most needy families in the city of Piazza Armerina.
To collect the gifts offered by the Sicily Delegation of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George was the Vicar General of the Diocese of Piazza Armerina, the Constantinian Ecclesiastical Knight of Grace Monsignor Antonino Rivoli. The latter, after welcoming the representation of the militia into the rectory, expressed words of appreciation and gratitude for the work carried out over the years for these diocesan families, praising their sensitivity. He also emphasized that the church of Santo Stefano itself serves as a distribution center, by the will of the Most Reverend H.E. Monsignor Rosario Gisana, Bishop of the Diocese of Piazza Armerina and Constantinian Ecclesiastical Knight Grand Cross of Grace. During the meeting, they also discussed the upcoming visit of H.R.H. Princess Beatrice of Bourbon to the province of Enna. This will take place on June 22nd and 23rd, respectively in Pietraperzia and at the pediatric ward of the Umberto I Hospital in Enna, on the occasion of the presentation of a new project embraced by the Constantinian Order entitled “Briciole di Cultura”. This is a program analogous to the first one, which aims to satisfy cultural needs and ease the hospital stay of young patients admitted to the island’s pediatric departments.
His Excellency the Bishop expressed words of esteem and consideration for the commitment shown by the Order, thanking H.R.H. Princess Beatrice of Bourbon, the Noble Antonio di Janni, and all his Knights for the constant dedication demonstrated to the Diocese, giving his blessing to the newly emerging project.

On Saturday, July 1st, the Vice Delegate of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George for Sicily delivered baby food and diapers to the Caritas of Carini, Archdiocese of Monreale, to assist families in difficulty in the city. Father Giacomo Sgroi, Archpriest of Carini and Constantinian Ecclesiastical Knight of Grace, welcomed the delegation and thanked them for their monthly support of the parish’s most needy, while outlining future cultural and medical initiatives. With the aim of supporting the “Briciole di Salute” (Crumbs of Health) project, H.R.H. Prince Charles of BourbonTwo Sicilies, Duke of Castro, Head of the Royal House, Grand Master of the Dynastic Orders of the House of Bourbon, as well as an honorary citizen of Monreale, has sent numerous early childhood care products to the Delegation of Sicily to be distributed during the summer months to the most needy families in Monreale. The Royal Family’s attention to those in need has always been a priority, especially when it comes to children.
Indeed, over the years, H.R.H. the Duke of Castro and H.R.H. the Grand Prefect have personally distributed these products to the mothers who requested them during their visits to the Island of Sicily. Due to the increasing number of families in difficulty in Monreale and, consequently, the growing need during the summer period, H.R.H. the Head of the Royal House, in his capacity as an honorary citizen of Monreale, strongly desired to make his contribution to help his fellow citizens who requested assistance from the Sicilian Delegation of the Constantinian Order of Saint George. The products donated by the Grand Master were distributed on Wednesday, July 12th, by the Vice Delegate, Antonio di Janni, the Chancellor Claudio Ragusa, and the Meritorious members Marco Scolaro, Lia Giangreco, and Sonia lo Monaco.

Last Sunday morning, the Vice Delegate, accompanied by Knight Salvatore Biondo, donated a quantity of anti-epileptic drugs to Father Dario Russo, Archpriest of Montelepre. This material, which will meet the medical needs for at least an entire year, is destined for a patient at the Monreale Archdiocese mission in Tanzania. The delivery took place in the Sacristy of the Mother Church of Montelepre. On this occasion, Father Dario thanked the Constantinian Delegation of Sicily for their continuous assistance.

On Tuesday, July 18th, H.R.H. Princess Beatrice of Bourbon Two Sicilies, Grand Prefect, accompanied by Vice Delegate Antonio di Janni, the Noble Dr. Paolo Modica de Mohac, the Lords of Grisì, and the Chancellor of the Delegation, Lawyer Claudio Ragusa, met with the Honorable Dr. Gaetano Galvagno at Palazzo dei Normanni.
The meeting between H.R.H. the Grand Prefect and the President of the Sicilian Regional Assembly was extremely cordial and affectionate. At the end of the discussion, the Grand Prefect presented Hon. Galvagno, on behalf of H.R.H. the Duke of Castro, Head of the Royal House and Grand Master of the Constantinian Order, with the diploma of Knight Officer of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George.
The President also received a commemorative medal of the Sicily Delegation from the Noble Dr. Antonio di Janni. On one side, it depicts the images of H.R.H. Princess Maria Carolina and Princess Maria Chiara of Bourbon Two Sicilies, and on the other, it represents the Sicilian eagle with the crown, a sign of royalty, wearing a crown around its neck that surmounts the Bourbon coat of arms.
