Sicily: Delegation Activities – November/December 2025

Acireale, 16 December 2025 – On the occasion of the Christmas holidays, Knights Marcello Cantone and Emanuele Currò brought basic necessities for women and children in need to the “Tenda della Madonna di Cristo” in Acireale. The Knights conveyed to the nuns and residents of the institution the greetings of the Grand Prefect.

San Martino delle Scale, 17 December 2025 – Commander Gasperino Como delivered panettoncini (small Christmas cakes), donated by the Sicilian Delegation, to the head of the Benedictine Caritas of the Abbey. Dom Bernardo thanked the Delegation for its ongoing support for children from disadvantaged families in the area.

Monreale, 8 December 2025 – A solemn Pontifical Mass was held, presided over by H.E. Most Rev. Mons. Gualtiero Isacchi, Archbishop of Monreale and Ecclesiastical Knight Grand Cross of Grace. Representing the Order were the Vice Delegate of Sicily Noble Antonio di Janni, Knight Grand Cross of Grace, the Chancellor Commander Claudio Ragusa, and Commanders Gasperino Como and Pietro Macaluso, along with Knights Giovanni Messina Spina, Rosario Tantillo, and Filippo Gagliano. At the end of the Mass, the Archbishop and the Mayor, Engineer Arcidiacono, laid flowers at the statue of the Immaculate Conception in Piazza Guglielmo II.

San Martino delle Scale, 23 November 2025 – The celebration on the Sunday dedicated to Christ the King was a jubilee event for the Order. It was preceded by the donation of a 16th-century crucifix by the Sicilian Delegation, with the approval of the Grand Master, to the abbey church. The Holy Mass highlighted the closeness of the Abbot and the monastic community and reinforced the path of faith and ecclesial communion.
H.R.H. Princess Beatrice of Bourbon Two Sicilies, accompanied by the Abbot, Vice Delegate Antonio di Janni, Chancellor Commander Claudio Ragusa, and Commander Nuccio Vincenzo, donated food and supplies for children to the Benedictine Caritas as part of the “Briciole di Salute” (Crumbs of Health) project.
