To bring relief and contribute to the well-being of people with psychophysical disabilities—whether minors with disabilities or Armed Forces veterans recovering from traumatizing experiences in operational theaters—so that they can benefit from equestrian rehabilitation..
This is the core mission of the Girolamo De Marco Equestrian Rehabilitation Center, a recognized non-profit organization registered in the National Lists of Animal-Assisted Interventions of the Ministry of Health. It is one of the first organizations in Italy to focus on equestrian rehabilitation, founded through the initiative of General Girolamo De Marco, whose name it bears.
The operational headquarters of the Center is located in Rome, inside the Pietro Giannattasio Military Equestrian Center. This site is home to the Italian Army’s “Lancieri di Montebello” Regiment, which has supported the non-profit for over thirty years by providing facilities and horses for the beneficiaries.

The Center implements various initiatives. For example, “Veterans in the Saddle” was the first animal-assisted intervention project with horses in Europe for defense veterans. It also runs numerous projects supporting autistic youth, helping to overcome traumatic events related to military missions or managing different disabilities through the mediating role of horses.
The Order, in agreement with the General Secretariat of Defense, decided to support this organization through a donation of three thousand five hundred euros. This contribution was formally delivered on December 4th by the Secretary General of the Order, H.E. Don Paolo Costantino Borghese.
