Naples, May 2, 2026 — In the first of the three annual prodigies associated with the Patron Saint, traditionally occurring on the Saturday preceding the first Sunday of May, the blood of Saint Gennaro liquefied at 5:04 p.m., amid the emotion and applause of the faithful present. This event is deeply rooted in the history and faith of the Neapolitan people: the rite commemorates the translation of the Saint’s relics and has been handed down for centuries as a sign of hope and protection for the city.
The traditional procession accompanied the bust and the ampoules containing the Martyr’s blood from the Cathedral to the Basilica of Santa Chiara, where the Eucharistic Celebration was presided over by His Eminence Cardinal Domenico Battaglia, Archbishop of Naples, the culminating moment of the day.
The Campania Delegation, led by the Marchesa Federica De Gregorio Cattaneo, took part devoutly in the ceremony together with the Knights present: Dame Nunzia Sannino, Knight Luigi De Angelis, Knight Lorenzo degli Innocenti, Knight Ciro Caruso, Knight Stefano Marchione, and Noble Knight Emiddio De Franciscis, sharing a moment of great spirituality and civic identity. An ancient rite that continues to unite Naples in the spirit of faith, tradition, and belonging.
