Solemn Investiture Ceremony at the Sovereign Military Order of Malta

Rome, 22 September – A solemn investiture ceremony took place in the Magistral Chapel dedicated to Saint John the Baptist, at the Magistral Palace of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, in the presence of His Most Eminent Highness Fra’ John T. Dunlap, Prince and Grand Master of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta.

The ceremony was of particular significance for the Royal House of Bourbon of the Two Sicilies, as H.R.H. Princess Maria Carolina of Bourbon of the Two Sicilies, Duchess of Calabria and Palermo, and H.R.H. Princess Maria Chiara of Bourbon of the Two Sicilies, Duchess of Noto and Capri, were admitted to the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, both in the rank of Dames of Honour and Devotion.

During the same solemn celebration, H.R.H. Princess Beatrice of Bourbon of the Two Sicilies, Grand Prefect of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George, was awarded the dignity of Dame Grand Cross of Honour and Devotion.

The investiture, held in the evocative setting of the Magistral Chapel, represented a moment of profound spiritual and institutional significance, reflecting the values of faith, charity and service to others.

The values that have characterised the mission of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta for centuries were at the heart of a ceremony highlighting the bond between spiritual vocation, commitment to service and responsibility towards the community.

The admission of Princesses Maria Carolina and Maria Chiara, together with the elevation of Princess Beatrice to the dignity of Dame Grand Cross, thus represents a significant milestone in the recent history of the Royal Family of Bourbon of the Two Sicilies, celebrated in a spirit of devotion and a determination to continue serving the faith and one’s fellow human beings.
