Sicily: Delegation Activities Easter 2026 – Part Two

Monreale, April 5, 2026 – At the premises of the Boccone del Povero convent, kindly made available by Sister Anna, Mrs. Tiziana Parisi prepared, together with her husband Emanuele Noto and their son Rosario, the customary lunch for those in need.
The Sicilian Delegation, led by the Noble Delegate Knight Commander of Justice Don Lucio Bonaccorsi dei Principi di Reburdone and the Vice Delegate Noble Knight Grand Cross of Grace Antonio di Janni, contributed to the organization of the event. Around 50 people attended the lunch, which offered the guests a moment of serenity and a warm, family-like atmosphere.

Palermo, April 4, 2026 – The Easter Triduum at the Basilica della Magione concluded with the Easter Eve on Holy Saturday, attended by Commander Gasperino Como of the Sicilian Delegation.
The symbols of the Vigil, celebrated by Chaplain Don Massimiliano Purpura, are fire, light, and water. Father Purpura first blessed the fire used to light the Paschal Candle, then illuminated the entire church, revealing the Holy Crucifix, and finally immersed the Paschal Candle in the blessed water of the baptismal font before placing it on the altar.

Montelepre (PA), April 3, 2026 – On the occasion of Good Friday, the procession of the Urn of the Dead Christ was once again held. The urn is carried on shoulders with a slow and measured pace through the streets of the town in reverent silence.
Adding further solemnity to the procession was the presence of the Order. In particular, Commander Antonio Fundarò accompanied the statue along the entire route, alongside Knight Salvatore Biondo, President of the Deputation of the Urn of the Dead Christ. In the passing of the urn and in the gaze of Our Lady of Sorrows, Montelepre rediscovers its deepest identity, suspended between the pain of the cross and the hope of resurrection.
