Portici (NA), 11 April 2026 – In the splendid setting of the Reggia of Portici, Delegate Marchesa Federica De Gregorio Cattaneo, together with several Knights of the Campania Delegation and in the presence of members of the Association “1st Regiment Re” led by Angela Cucillato, awaited the arrival of the carriages carrying the Delegate of Molise, Duke Ettore d’Alessandro di Pescolanciano, his son Knight of Justice Alessandro d’Alessandro, and H.R.H. Claude d’Orléans. The meeting formed part of the event “The Journey of the Marquis of the Carriages,” held in memory of Mario d’Alessandro, Knight of Justice of the Constantinian Order as well as of the Order of Saint Januarius.

D’Alessandro, a collector of carriages, accomplished an extraordinary feat in 1955: together with some friends, he departed from his residence in Portici on a four-in-hand stagecoach, covering more than 150 km of unpaved roads, passing through his castle in Pescolanciano and reaching Campobasso in just three days.

On the 71st anniversary of the event, a similar journey was organized by Giuseppe Angiulli, under the patronage of the d’Alessandro family di Pescolanciano, for about ten participants. Departing from Castellammare, the stagecoaches headed to Ercolano, Portici, Naples, and Santa Maria Capua Vetere, continuing into Molise as far as Agnone. Each stop became a moment to meet friends, Knights, and enthusiasts, visiting places of the former Kingdom of Naples while discussing equestrian traditions and local excellences. The event was filmed by the crew of journalist Nicola Mastronardi, who will produce a television documentary.

Delegates and participants were welcomed at Villa Campolieto in Ercolano for a reception hosted by Maria Cristina Bianchi in memory of her father, Prof. Leonardo Bianchi, himself a connoisseur and collector of carriages, with greetings from Dott. Gennaro Miranda, President of the Fondazione Ville Vesuviane.
