THE OFFICIAL VISIT TO HUNGARY OF THE ROYAL FAMILY OF BOURBON TWO SICILIES

On June 27, T.R.H. Prince Charles of Bourbon Two Sicilies, Duke of Castro, and Princess Camilla, Duchess of Castro, alongside their daughters, TRH Princess Maria Carolina, Duchess of Calabria, and Princess Maria Chiara, Duchess of Noto, visited the Parliament Palace in Budapest. They met with László Kövér, Speaker of the Parliament, who guided them through the tour. The delegation focused particularly on the Holy Crown of Saint Stephen, which dates back approximately 1,000 years.
In the evening, they attended a gala dinner at the Former Carmelite Monastery, invited by Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén. The dinner was attended by Minister of Defense Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky, HI&RH Eduard Habsburg, Ambassador of Hungary to the Holy See, and Emese Semjén. During the event, Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky was decorated with the insignia of Grand Officer of the Constantinian Order of Saint George by HRH the Head of the Royal House.

The following day, after visiting the Greek-Catholic Church of Saint Michael the Archangel in Máriapócs—the most important Marian shrine for faithful of the Byzantine rite—humanitarian aid was delivered. H.R.H. the Duke of Castro, Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén, State Secretary Miklós Soltész, Lajos Győri-Dani (Executive Vice-President of the Hungarian Maltese Charity Service), Greek-Catholic Bishop Ábel Szocska, Metropolitan Fülöp Kocsis, Latin-Catholic Bishop Antal Majnek, and HI&RH Ambassador Eduard Habsburg distributed aid to support thousands of refugees living in disastrous conditions arriving at the Ukraine-Hungary border. Afterward, HRH Prince Charles of Bourbon Two Sicilies shared a breakfast with Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén.

H.R.H. the Grand Master also met with His Eminence Cardinal Péter Erdő, Archbishop of Esztergom-Budapest and Primate of Hungary, Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén, and HI&RH Eduard Habsburg, Ambassador of Hungary to the Holy See. During the meeting, they discussed various diplomatic matters and addressed the current religious situation in Hungary.

Finally, on June 29, H.E. Katalin Novák, President of the Republic of Hungary, received the Royal Family at her residence. During the extensive meeting, the two delegations addressed various topics, including that of the family, as the President previously served as Minister for that department. Subsequently, the Grand Master presented her with the diploma of Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Order of Francis I.

Later that same day, H.R.H. the Duke of Castro traveled to Pannonhalma, where he was welcomed by the Archabbot, Monsignor Cirill Hortobágyi, and the Benedictine monk Konrád Dejcsics. There, he visited the library of the Benedictine Order, which contains over 400,000 books, including several highly rare codices and unique religious works.
