Portugal: The Sacred Military Constantinian Order Of Saint George Hosts A Charity Ball For Huntington’s Disease Association At Queluz Palace In Lisbon.

Lisbon, May 9, 2026- The Portuguese Delegation of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order held a charity ball at the National Palace of Queluz in support of the Portuguese Huntington’s Disease Association. The dinner brought over 280 guests and welcomed members of the Portuguese royal family, including the Duchess of Braganza, the Prince of Beira, and the Dukes of Coimbra, as well as Princess Maria Gabriela of Orléans-Braganza and the Prince of Ligne. Guests were welcomed with a cocktail reception, followed by dinner and musical performances. The Honorary Committee was composed of H.R.H. Prince Carlo of Bourbon Two Sicilies; T.R.H. the Duke and Duchess of Braganza; H.R.H. the Prince of Beira; and H.E. Dom Rui Valério.

The cause supported the Portuguese Huntington’s Disease Association, which aims to establish a specialized hospital unit dedicated to supporting people living with Huntington’s disease, a hereditary and fatal neurodegenerative disorder. In Portugal, many people affected by the disease lack adequate access to specialized care facilities. It was with this purpose that the Association was created: to support and assist patients and their families. Sponsors and partners of the event included the Municipality of Sintra, Parques de Sintra, the Sintra Orchestra, Quinta da Taipa, Festa Aluga, Casa de Arrochela, Casa S. Bernardo, Tomás Barradas, Pingo Doce, Central de Cervejas, Germano de Sousa, É o que É, Big Chain Events, and Jasmim de Flores.

The Portuguese Delegation, currently led by Baron Miguel Horta e Costa and Don Francisco de Mendia, has developed several charitable initiatives, like the most notable “Art for (Just) a Change” charity auction of 2023, which funded a housing rehabilitation project worth approximately €45,000, enabling the restoration of homes for vulnerable families in the Alcanena region. Through these initiatives, the Order has established itself as an active and committed presence in Portuguese society, placing tradition at the service of meaningful causes.
