Naples, December 23rd, 2025 – Naples hosted one of the most solemn and symbolic moments on the journey to Milan-Cortina 2026. H.R.H. Prince Charles of Bourbon Two Sicilies, Duke of Castro and Head of the Royal House, participated as a torchbearer in the Olympic Flame Ceremony, taking part in the Naples stage of the relay that ideally unites the country in the name of sport, peace, and universal values.
The Prince’s presence represented a natural synthesis of sports excellence, institutional responsibility, and social commitment. His profound passion for sports is expressed in a high-profile career: nine-time world sailing champion in the Smeralda 888 class, an example of discipline, determination, and team spirit—principles that fully embody the Olympic ethics.
Alongside his sporting career, he maintains his constant humanitarian and civic commitment as Grand Master of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George, which promotes and supports healthcare, educational, welfare, and solidarity initiatives, particularly aimed at the most vulnerable sections of society, in Italy and abroad. This commitment, inspired by Christian values, solidarity and service, is a central component of his institutional and personal mission.
Confirming the international recognition of this commitment, the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George enjoys a special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC-UN), that witnesses its active role on major social and humanitarian issues at the global level.
During the ceremony, H.R.H. Prince Charles of Bourbon Two Sicilies stated:
“Carrying the Olympic Flame is a profound honor and a great responsibility. The Flame represents not only sport, but also what sport teaches: respect, sacrifice, solidarity, and hope. These are values I have lived as an athlete and continue to promote through my institutional and humanitarian commitment. Naples, with its soul and its history, is the ideal place to renew this universal message.”
The Prince’s participation in the Olympic Torch Relay Ceremony is thus part of a coherent journey that unites sport, ethics, and community service, reaffirming the value of sport as a tool for dialogue, inclusion, and building a shared future.
