Defense and Constantinian Order of St. George Unite to Support Caritas Beirut. The Solidarity Initiative, Created Thanks to the Military Technical Committee for Lebanon, Is Named “A Bridge of Hope”

Beirut, December 23, 2024. Just under a month after the cessation of hostilities between Lebanon and Israel, and with Holy Christmas approaching, solidarity and aid initiatives for the communities of Beirut continue.

In recent days, the Military Technical Committee for Lebanon (MTC4L)—an Italian-led multilateral humanitarian and capacity-building initiative—delivered panettoni and other Christmas gifts to the Caritas office in the Lebanese capital. These items will be distributed to the most vulnerable segments of the local population.

The initiative, named “A Bridge of Hope,” was promoted by the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St. George. Through the “Ordine Costantiniano Charity” ONLUS and with the support of the MTC4L, the Order aimed to support Caritas Beirut, specifically the deeply afflicted Lebanese Christian-Maronite community.

The Military Technical Committee, led by Major General Diodato Abagnara, was established with a dual purpose: to support the Lebanese Armed Forces and, above all, to assist the local population through humanitarian initiatives made possible by the solidarity of various Italian donors. The Committee operates in compliance with UNSCR 1701, in harmony with ongoing political and diplomatic efforts.

The Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St. George is a chivalric order recognized by the Italian State. Tradition traces its origins back to Emperor Constantine, and it is currently led by H.R.H. Prince Carlo of Bourbon of Two Sicilies, Duke of Castro. The Order promotes the spread of the Roman Catholic faith and contributes to social assistance and hospital work worldwide.

With “A Bridge of Hope,” Italy reaffirms its closeness to the communities affected by the recent conflict between Israel and Hezbollah through a small gesture of solidarity. This demonstrates the effectiveness of a Country System where military and civil components unite to help those less fortunate
