It is a sacred promontory, and reaching it in procession to then return to the city represents a pilgrimage that takes place at night to arrive at dawn—almost a journey from darkness toward the Light.

On behalf of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George, Antonio Oliverio, Knight of Grace and Representative for the city of Crotone, Maria Pia Galasso, Dame of Merit, and Vito Michele De Caro, Knight of Merit (also present in his capacity as president of the National Association of Italian Sailors), took part in the pilgrimage of the “return” of the Madonna of Capo Colonna. This year 2026 is an important one: as it marks the septennial of the Marian celebrations, the so-called “Large Painting”—the richly decorated original Byzantine Icon—was carried in procession instead of the smaller and more recent icon, the “Quadricello”.

The path from the promontory of Capo Colonna wound along the coast amid prayers, traditional floral tributes, and messages dropped from balconies as the Madonna passed by. In a Piazza Pitagora overflowing with pilgrims and faithful, the Archbishop of Crotone – Santa Severina, H.E.R. Monsignor Alberto Torriani, imparted the Apostolic Blessing to all, preceded by an intense and heartfelt message of hope and love for the Virgin and for all Humanity in this confused era. Heartfelt thanks were extended by the Constantinian Representation to Monsignor Pancrazio Limina, president of the Cathedral Chapter of Crotone, for once again inviting the Constantinian Delegation to take part in these solemn moments of devotion.

Reggio Calabria, April 23, 2026 – The Calabria Delegation of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George celebrated Holy Mass on the occasion of the feast of Saint George the Martyr. The celebration was attended by the Vice Delegate, Knight Grand Cross of Merit Dott. Aurelio Badolati, together with a group of Knights and Dames. The liturgy took place at the Parish of Santa Maria della Candelora, in the historic center of Reggio Calabria, and was presided over by the Vice Prior of the Calabrian Delegation, Mons. Luigi Cannizzo.

During the liturgy, the Gospel of John (Jn 6:44–51) was proclaimed, in which Jesus states that no one can come to Him unless drawn by the Father, and promises resurrection on the last day and eternal life to those who believe. Christ presents Himself as the Bread of Life, the essential nourishment for attaining eternal life. Mons. Cannizzo invited those present to reflect on the meaning of the Gospel passage, also recalling the figure of Saint George, Patron of the Order: one of the most ancient saints, a Knight of peace in the struggle against evil, venerated on the same day by both the Catholic and Orthodox Churches. At the end of the celebration, the Vice Delegate Aurelio Badolati recited the Prayer of the Constantinian Knight. The evening concluded with greetings from the Vice Delegate himself, with the hope of meeting again soon for another celebration, possibly followed by a fraternal agape meal.

Polistena (RC), April 15, 2026 – The Calabria Delegation promoted and carried out a donation of food supplies to the center “Il Samaritano” in Polistena. This initiative took place within the framework of aid actions for the most vulnerable during the Easter period and takes on an even deeper meaning: not only concrete support for the most fragile, but also a sign of renewal, hope, and rebirth, in line with the Christian message of Easter.

A tangible gesture born from the desire to offer real help to those living in difficult situations, ensuring essential goods and demonstrating a caring and supportive presence in the local community, with particular attention to children and families in need. Through initiatives like this, the core values of the members of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order are renewed: Christian charity, solidarity, generosity in service, and a constant commitment to human dignity. These principles guide every action the Delegation of Calabria and find concrete expression in closeness to others, showing that Christian values are not just words, but lived actions in everyday life.

Crotone, April 14, 2026- The bond between the Order and the community of Crotone has been strengthened with a new donation made by the city Representation to those most in need, assisted by the “Padre Pio” soup kitchen, active in Crotone since 1997. On behalf of the Calabria Delegation, Knight of Merit Vito Michele De Caro and Knight of Grace Antonio Oliverio, city Representative, donated to the facility a quantity of 150–175 individual portions of chicken meat, along with a dessert specially prepared for the occasion.

This initiative is part of an ongoing effort of solidarity, also thanks to the attention of Monsignor Pancrazio Limina, President of the Cathedral Chapter of the Diocese of Crotone–Santa Severina and Dean of the local clergy, but above all founder of the “Padre Pio” soup kitchen, which is approaching its thirtieth anniversary since its opening.

Monsignor Pancrazio Limina also confirmed the start of the process to nominate the Feast of Madonna di Capo Colonna, Patroness of the city of Crotone, as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. He also renewed this year’s invitation to the traditional Marian Procession on May 17: In 2026, on the occasion of the septennial celebration, the evocative nighttime ceremony will be held with even greater solemnity, featuring the original Byzantine icon so deeply venerated in Crotone.

The institution is run by the Missionary Sisters of the Catechism and exclusively hosts underprivileged elderly people. This initiative is part of a series of donations already carried out during the Lenten period, demonstrating that the commitment of the Dames and Knights continues over time. For members of the Order, supporting those most in need is not only an act of solidarity, but a true duty, carried out with a spirit of service and dedication. The Calabria Delegation has always been close to the most vulnerable, with the firm intention of not leaving the poorest and the elderly alone. The smiles and gratitude encountered remind us that even a small gesture can make a great difference.

Reggio Calabria, March 29th, 2026 – the Delegation of Calabria celebrated the Holy Mass for Palm Sunday, in preparation for Easter. Before the Holy Mass, a large group of Knights and Dames including the Vice Delegate, Knight Grand Cross of Merit Dott. Aurelio Badolati, gathered in the very central piazza De Nava, where the blessing of the olive branches was performed by the parish priest of Santa Maria della Candelora Don Luigi Cannizzo, Vice Prior of the Delegation.

Afterwards, the participants proceeded in procession to the parish where the Mass was celebrated. Tradition holds that on Palm Sunday, during the Proclamation of the Gospel, the entire Passion of Jesus Christ is read in the first person. This reading was assigned to Don Luigi, with the participation of the Deacon and the Acolyte.

Following the Mass, the Knights and Dames provided lunch to the underprivileged members of the parish community. The initiative was organized by Knight Officer Antonino Campolo. Knight Badolati noted that this marked the second event of the parish’s dining program for the poor, inaugurated last month at the parish of San Luca Evangelista, located in the southern area of Reggio Calabria. The Vice Delegate also assured that such events would continue on a regular basis in other parishes, to ensure broad coverage across the territory.

After the meal, the participants exchanged greetings for the upcoming Holy Easter and in anticipation of the feast of our Patron Saint George, during which the Pontifical Celebration will take place.

Reggio Calabria, March 1st, 2026 – The Knights of the Calabria Delegation, under the guidance of Vice Delegate and Knight Grand Cross of Merit Aurelio Badolati, attended the Holy Mass at the Parish of San Luca Evangelista

The parish is located in Gebbione–Sbarre, in the southern peripheral area of the city, and faces daily a reality of marginalization and social disadvantage, characterized in particular by the presence of many non-EU immigrants.

The attendance of the Knights at the Eucharistic celebration thus represented an active participation in the parish’s activities, masterfully carried out by the Parish Priest Don Bruno Cipro, who did not fail to thank the Delegation at the beginning of the Holy Mass.

The liturgy deeply shared with joy by the entire ecclesial community together with the Knights and the many children present, concluded with the reading of the prayer of the Constantinian Knight by the Vice Delegate. Immediately afterwards, wishing to leave a tangible sign of its charitable participation of the parish’s activities, the Delegation served lunch to the poor. Many of those present warmly thanked the Knights.

Reggio Calabria, February 19th, 2026 – Sixty hot meals in single portions were donated to people in need in the area of ​​the Candelora Parish.
The initiative was promoted by the Order, which continues to demonstrate its vocation to serve the faith and Christian charity through concrete works. In a time marked by difficulty and loneliness, sharing a hot meal becomes a tangible sign of hope and closeness.
The gesture takes on particular significance in light of the recent World Day of the Sick, which draws attention to those suffering in body and spirit. “I was hungry and you gave me food” (Mt 25:35): words that take a deeper meaning in these particular works of mercy.
The distribution of meals was a moment of fraternity and presence, a sign that lived faith translates into genuine care for the most vulnerable. A small great gesture that silently renews the light of charity in the heart of the community.

The initiative, organized with the patronage of local and regional institutions and with the participation of the Delegations of Rome and Lazio, Campania, Abruzzo, Basilicata, Calabria, Molise, Puglia, and Sicily, represented an important moment of historical remembrance, reflection and spiritual recollection.

The program began on Saturday, February 14th, with the official welcome from the Mayor of Gaeta, Dott. Cristian Leccese, to the Delegates of the Delegations of the former Kingdom and to the public at the Diocesan Museum. There, the participants had the opportunity to admire the Banner of the Battle of Lepanto and the historical artifacts of the Duchy of Gaeta, guided by the Museum’s Director, Don Gennaro Petruccelli.

The first day concluded with a conference held in the Conference Hall of Palazzo De Vio, opened with institutional greetings and followed by a lectio magistralis delivered by Prof. Roberto de Mattei on the topic “Francis II and the End of a Kingdom.”

On Sunday, February 15th, the most solemn moment of the celebrations took place with the Holy Mass at the Sanctuary of the Most Holy Trinity at the Montagna Spaccata, presided over by H.E. the Most Rev. Mons. Luigi Vari, Archbishop of Gaeta and Ecclesiastical Knight Grand Cross of Grace. The Mass was offered in suffrage for the fallen of the Siege of Gaeta (1860–61) and for the last Sovereigns of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, Francis II of the Two Sicilies and Maria Sofia.

Afterwards, the Rector of the Sanctuary, Father Daniele Belussi, accompanied the participants to the summit of the cliff of the Montagna Spaccata, at the site where the Transylvania Battery once stood and exploded on February 13th, 1861. The commemorative ceremony included institutional addresses, the casting of a wreath into the sea in honor of the Fallen, the raising of the flag with historical reenactors in period uniforms, and salutes fired with blank ammunition, performed by the “1st King’s Regiment.”

The celebrations were attended by numerous civil, military, and religious authorities, as well as representatives of the Order from various Italian regions, together with members of the local institutions and the associative community. Among the official addresses were those delivered by the Mayor of Gaeta and Egidio D’Addio, President of the Lazio Section of the National Association of Former Nunziatella Students.

The initiative reinforced the historical, cultural, and identity-related significance of the memory of the Siege of Gaeta, a symbol of the end of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. The substantial participation of the local community highlighted the deep connection of the territory with its history and its commitment to the preservation of collective memory.
