Today, Knight Officer Antonino Campolo, representing the Calabria Delegation of the Order, delivered 60 single-portion hot meals to the needy supported by the Parish of Santa Maria della Candelora in Reggio Calabria.

The donation is part of a particularly significant liturgical context. On July 8, the Catholic Church commemorates Saints Aquila and Priscilla, spouses and collaborators of the Apostle Paul, who are symbols of hospitality and service. Furthermore, this same week leads to the feast of Saint Benedict of Nursia (July 11), patron saint of Europe, whose Rule dictates that every guest must be welcomed “as Christ himself.”

The work of Knight Officer Campolo fully reflects the mission of the Constantinian Order, which is dedicated to the glorification of the Cross and the assistance of those in need. Through constant and silent actions, the Calabria Delegation demonstrates how the Constantinian Militia translates today into a concrete mobilization in favor of the least fortunate, in perfect synergy with local parishes.

The Delegation accepted the invitation of the General Secretary of the Austrian Episcopal Conference, Dr. Peter Schipka, and was cordially received at the Archbishop’s Palace. The meeting represented an important opportunity for dialogue and discussion in an atmosphere of mutual respect and cordiality.

During the meeting, the General Secretary illustrated the mission, institutional responsibilities, and activities of the Austrian Episcopal Conference, also focusing on the main pastoral themes and current positions of the Catholic Church in Austria.

The Delegation presented the charitable activities of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George in Italy and Austria, as well as the social and humanitarian initiatives currently being implemented and planned.

The meeting confirmed the shared desire to deepen the dialogue between the Church and the Order’s charitable work, promoting an ever closer collaboration at the service of people and the common good.

The initiative, which reflects the motto of the Sicilian Delegation of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St. George “to be rather than to seem”, carries a deep human and religious meaning aimed at putting the words of the Gospel into practice. The Grand Master, H.R.H. Prince Carlo of Bourbon Two Sicilies, Duke of Castro and Head of the Royal House, guides and promotes these charitable events.

The Knights and Dames who took part not only purchased the food supplies but also, together with the mission volunteers coordinated by Mr. Mimmo Scaffidi, cooked the meals for sixty people in need. A major contribution was made by Commendatore Carmelo Sammarco, who shared his forty years of experience in the catering sector by creating a menu inspired by the flavors and traditions of typical Sicilian cuisine. The menu featured penne pasta with fresh tomato, basil, fried eggplant, and salted ricotta; baked meat with seasoned breadcrumbs and potatoes; and almond pastries and puff pastries. At the end of the lunch, the knights cleaned the tables and the dining hall.

The highly successful event was made possible thanks to the contribution of the Vice Delegate of Sicily, Noble Antonio di Janni, Knight Grand Cross of Grace; Chancellor Claudio Ragusa, Knight Commander of Merit; Master of Ceremonies Carmelo Sammarco, Knight Commander of Merit; Vincenzo Nuccio, Knight Commander of Merit; Mariella Spagnola, Dame of Merit; Maria Lo Castro, Dame of Merit; and the meritorious Marianna De Santis.

At the end of the services, the Noble Doctor Antonio di Janni presented Monsignor Raspanti with a commemorative medal from the Sicilian delegation, depicting the Royal Eagle with the Bourbon coat of arms on one side and the Constantinian cross on the other. “We wanted to present this medal as a tangible sign of our gratitude for a figure who represents one of the highest expressions of the Italian episcopate. In him, we recognize an authentic Pastor, capable of combining theological depth, attention to the most vulnerable, and reading the signs of the times without ever losing the centrality of the Gospel.”

Also present were the Representative for Mazara, the Very Reverend Parish Priest Father Franco Geraldo Caruso, Ecclesiastical Knight of Grace and Rector of the Church of San Vito a Mare, which is entrusted to the care of the Constantinian Order), the Very Reverend Parish Priest Father Daniele Donato, Ecclesiastical Knight of Grace and Vice Rector of the Church of San Vito a Mare, the Very Reverend Parish Priest Father Giancarlo Tumburello, Ecclesiastical Knight of Grace, and the Very Reverend Parish Priest Father Salvatore Pavia (Ecclesiastical Knight of Grace).

During his homily, the Bishop recalled the heroic virtues of Saint Vitus the Martyr. At the conclusion of the Holy Mass, the relics of Saint Vitus, Saint Modestus, and Saint Crescentia were carried in procession inside the Cathedral and translated to the altar dedicated to them for public veneration.

The Vice-Delegate conveyed to Monsignor Giurdanella the greetings of the Grand Prefect, H.R.H. Princess Beatrice of Bourbon Two Sicilies.
