Medical and paramedical staff will use these supplies during home visits. Knight Ragusa was welcomed by SAMOT&#8217;s Scientific Director, Prof. Sebastiano Mercadante, and by Dr. Dario Trizzino. Since 1999, Prof. Mercadante has directed the anesthesia and intensive care service, the pain therapy and palliative care unit, and the Hospice of the Maddalena Oncological Department. The service took place at the Church of Santa Gemma Galgani in Mazara del Vallo. The solemn Eucharistic liturgy was officiated by the Parish Priest Father Franco Geraldo Caruso, representative of the Delegation of Sicily for the Diocese of Mazara. A group of Knights led by the Vice-Delegate, the Noble Antonio di Janni, participated in the Holy Mass, which was presided over by the Very Rev. Msgr. Salvatore Grimaldi, Ecclesiastical Commander of Grace. The Chancellor of the delegation, Attorney Claudio Ragusa, Comm. Dr. Gasperino Como, and Knight Dr. Antonio Molinaro were also present. The painter Elisabetta Maniaci attended as well and donated a splendid polychrome Cross she created to the Constantinian Basilica. Their purpose was to donate a defibrillator to be installed inside the school facility. The Delegation was welcomed by the Principal, Prof. Maria Grazia Antinoro, along with the Vice-Principal, Prof. Maria Rosaria Antoci, and Prof. Graziella Ribaudo, head of the Classical High School.      <br\/>The Constantinian and school delegations then proceeded to Palazzo Mastrogiovanni Tasca, where they were welcomed by the Mayor of the City, Dr. Sebastiano Sanzarello. <br\/> After the institutional greetings and a brief presentation of the Order, the Vice-Delegate, in his capacity as a doctor, explained to the students and teachers present the importance of having a defibrillator inside the school facility and how it should be used in case of need. <br\/> At the end of the ceremony, Principal Antinoro thanked the Order for the important donation, expressing hope for the beginning of a collaboration between the Order and the school institution. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Wednesday, March 12, the Chancellor of the Delegation of Sicily, Officer Knight Claudio Ragusa, delivered 65 boxes of medical supplies to the Society for the Assistance of Terminal Cancer Patients (SAMOT).
