The Delegate of Liguria, toghether with Volunteer Dott. Pietro Chersola, delivered some food supplies as a donation for the charitable works of the Diocese of Sanremo and Ventimiglia. They have been welcomed directly by the Bishop, H.E. Mons. Antonio Suetta, with whom they were able to have a long and cordial conversation, during which he recalled mainly the the commitment of the Constantinian knights to those most in need, in the constant glorification of the Holy Cross. The Bishop then adressed several matters of immediate relevance: the increasingly urgent requests for help from individuals and families, both Italian and non-EU, especially near the French border; the need to support the educational efforts for our youth, often exposed to pseudo-cultural influences that are utterly negative for their harmonious development; and the emergency of a natural right that is increasingly disregarded and attacked by social dynamics, whereby the right to life is denied from the very first moments of existence.”

The items delivered to the Pra headquarters were collected thanks to the collaboration of Dr. Romina Paciotta, an active supporter of the Order, and the volunteers of the association “La Collina Verde nel Mediterraneo.” This contribution supports the daily work of aid and shelter that the Sisters of Calcutta provide to families, and particularly to young girls, facing severe hardship, while also ensuring a steady distribution of meals.

As noted for several years by the Ligurian members of the Costantinian Order during their targeted aid distributions in the region—extending all the way to the French border—the number of people in need has increased at an alarming rate.

Genoa, May 28, 2025 – Some members of the Liguria Delegation gathered, together with many supporters of the Order, at the residence of Knight Gerard Deiss. The purpose was to take regular stock of the various social solidarity initiatives planned in the spirit of the Jubilee of Hope. This spirit is more relevant than ever. We constantly witness this during our many meetings to donate food or personal goods to lonely people and families in the most disadvantaged areas of Genoa’s historic center, its suburbs, or the Western Ligurian Riviera near the French border. People have now lost hope for a better future. They desperately cling to their daily needs to cope with a very difficult existential situation, which increasingly affects both Italians and non-EU citizens in equal measure. The donation of gift parcels, tailored to individual beneficiaries, manages to bring a small comfort to people and children. Unfortunately, the requests are so numerous that the Delegation is regularly forced to make choices that help many, but do not reach many others in need.

The Liguria Delegation is always committed to address the needs of families and individuals of Genoa old town and the west side of Genoa in poor economic conditions, by sending gift packages. The Missionary Sisters of Mother Teresa of Calcutta in Prà district of Genoa represent an important community, well established in the territory, which daily opens a canteen, and which is increasingly visited by poor people. The Delegation is committed to participate to this form of charity, by providing immediately edible or canned food products, or other goods for the welcomed mothers and sons. A visit was carried out by the Delegate and the Knights Antonio Esposito and Gerard Deiss, accompanied by parish priest Carlo Migliori.

As every year, Dames and Knights of the Ligurian Delegation, together with the Order’s sympathizers, gathered at the splendid consular residence of the Knight Dr. Gerard Deiss. They were welcomed as always with a wonderful hospitality coordinated with great affection by Dame Annie Bonhomme. The occasion also allowed to take stock of the initiatives carried out in the first part of 2023 and to plan those that will occour during autumn. During the religious service, celebrated as a trigesimo of suffrage, the commitment and the many charitable activities of Dame Donatella Pinducciu were recalled. She had prepared, with great dedication, numerous packages to give to children with social and health problems of the Historical Center of Genoa and Western Liguria. These memories have contributed even more to encouraging the members of the Delegation and the many present, who constantly refer to the ethical and religious values of the Constantinian Order, in pursuing with constancy a daily attention to those who are faced with difficulties often insurmountable. In confirming the common commitment to the glorification of the Cross, the pastoral work carried out for 13 years by the Grand Prior Emeritus Reverend Eminence Cardinal Renato Raffaele Martino was remembered, welcoming with filial devotion the appointment as Grand Prior of Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints and member of the Dicastery for the Eastern Churches. After reciting the prayer of the Constantinian Knight, the fraternal meeting ended in the convivial hospitality offered by the Deiss Family in a unique environmental context.

In the ancient Marian sanctuary of the Basilica Santa Maria delle Vigne, in the historic center of Genoa, a meeting was held to commemorate Ambassador Luca Attanasio, police officer Vittorio Jacovacci and Congolese driver Mustapha Milambo. Prof. Giovanni Chersola, Delegate for Liguria, was invited to testify about the very difficult situation of the Congolese communities, and about the concrete aid that is brought to families in great distress, and finally about the condition of women and children.

The Ligurian delegation tried to cope as much as possible with the various difficult situations known in the region due to the health emergency by delivering food packages and medical supplies. The donation was led by two aspiring Knights with Lieutenant Antonio Esposito.

During the Christmas holidays, the representatives of the delegation continued to distribute gifts and food to lonely and needy people. The Missionary Sisters of Charity of Calcutta who live in Genoa Prà wanted to thank the delegation for its help, and in turn offered some gifts.
