Dearest Knights and Dames,

on the occasion of the feast of Saint George, glorious martyr and heavenly patron of our beloved Order, I wish to extend to each of you my heartfelt greetings, together with a thought of fraternal communion and the hope of a renewed commitment to the Christian life.

The figure of Saint George, so dear to our tradition, does not belong only to the memory of the past, but continues to question the present. His witness, marked by a clear faith and constant fidelity to Christ even unto martyrdom, reminds us of the truth of our vocation. Even today, in fact, we are faced with trials no less demanding: tensions between people, bloody wars in many regions of the world, and the spread of a culture marked by opposition, violence, and disdain for the dignity of human life.

In this context, we are called to understand more deeply the meaning of our belonging to the Order. Ours is a commitment not expressed through weapons, or arms, but through the following of the Gospel; a commitment that finds its strength in prayer and its concrete form in charity. It is there that the Christian leads the good fight: in the silence of prayer and generous service.

Peace, which we so deeply desire and invoke, cannot be imposed from the outside, but is born from reconciled and renewed hearts. With words that are at once simple and demanding, Pope Leo XIV, in his first greeting, reminded the Church and the world: ‘Peace be with all of you!’ It is a wish that increasingly becomes a responsibility. To embrace it means allowing ourselves to be formed in a peace that is first built in prayer, “on our knees”, and that becomes visible in our actions, in hands opened to encounter and sharing. A peace—as he himself recalled—‘unarmed and disarming,’ capable of touching hearts and transforming relationships.

In this horizon also stands our history, which has its roots in the very beginnings of the Christian era. It is not a heritage to be preserved only externally, but a living tradition that must be continually embodied in daily choices and attitudes. The virtues that distinguish our path – faith, justice, and charity – today find a fertile field of exercise precisely in dedication to the weakest and in the promotion of the dignity of every person.

On this day, I extend a respectful and sincere good wish to our Grand Master, H.R.H. Prince Carlo of Bourbon Two Sicilies, that he may continue to guide the Order with wisdom and a spirit of service, sustaining in all of us the desire for an ever more authentic witness.

To each of you I renew the invitation to live your belonging with awareness and responsibility: not as a social status, but as a concrete commitment. Our time calls for believers capable of doing good with discretion, of caring for those who suffer, and of building bonds of fraternity. It is along this path that our presence becomes credible.

We entrust our prayers and our vows to the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Angels and Saints, and of Saint George.

With affection and blessing, Marcello Cardinale Semeraro
Grand Prior

Dearest Knights and Dames,

as we approach Holy Easter, the beating heart of our faith, I wish to address to you a message of comunion, prayer and renewed hope in the Risen Lord.

May the light of the Resurrection, which breaks through the darkness of the tomb, illuminate our hearts and renew in each of us the awareness of the victory of life over death, of love over hatred, of peace over violence. As Pope Leo XIV recalled: “Peace is born in the reconciled heart and spreads as an active gift in the history of humanity.” And again: “There is no night so dark that the light of the Risen Christ cannot illumine.”

In this time marked by profound suffering, we cannot fail to turn our gaze to the tragedies affecting so many peoples in various parts of the world, particularly in these holy days in the Middle East and in the devastated Land of Jesus, where the mystery of our redemption was accomplished. The wounds of conflict, the suffering of the innocent, and the cry of those deprived of dignity and hope call upon our Christian conscience and our concrete commitment.

In this context, I wish to express, also on your behalf, sentiments of sincere gratitude to the family and to the Grand Master of our beloved Order, His Royal Highness Prince Carlo of Bourbon of Two Sicilies, Duke of Castro for the firm and generous guidance with which he continues to promote the values of faith, charity and service.

Dear Knights and Dames, Easter calls us all to be the credible witnesses of the Risen Lord in our daily lives. May our belonging to the Constantinian Order never be merely a distinguishing sign, but increasingly become a concrete witness of Christian life, in fidelity to the Gospel and in dedication to works of charity, especially toward the weakest and those in need.

With these sentiments, I wish you and your dear families, a Holy Easter filled with grace, certain that, even in the adversities of the present time, the Lord continues to work wonders and to bring forth seeds of goodness.

Christ is risen, alleluia! He is truly risen alleluia. This is our hope, this is our mission.

With heartfelt blessing,

Marcello Card. Semeraro
Grand Prior

Recently, at the initiative of the Consul General of Italy in Munich, Dr. Sergio Maffettone, a ceremony dedicated to the memory of Maria Sophia Amalia was held in the Senate Hall of the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität. Born in Munich and laid to rest in Naples as Queen of the Two Sicilies, her life and legacy were solemnly commemorated on this occasion.

Representing the Royal House of Bourbon Two Sicilies was the Head of the Royal House, H.R.H. Prince Carlo, Duke of Castro and Grand Master of the Dynastic Orders. Representing the House of Wittelsbach were the Head of the House, H.R.H. Prince Franz, Duke of Bavaria, accompanied by H.R.H. Prince Leopold and H.R.H. Princess Sophie.

During the ceremony, the figure of Princess Maria Sophia, Duchess in Bavaria—who became Queen of the Two Sicilies following her marriage to H.M. King Francis II of Bourbon—was solemnly recalled. Particular emphasis was placed on her courageous and decisive role in the defense of the Fortress of Gaeta in 1860, which earned her the epithet “Heroine of Gaeta”. After a long period of exile, she found her final resting place in 1984 in the Bourbon family tomb at the Basilica of Santa Chiara in Naples.

The event also represented a significant moment of encounter between the Heads of the House of Wittelsbach and the House of Bourbon Two Sicilies, marked by the conferment by the Duke of Castro of the title of Knight of the Illustrious Royal Order of Saint Januarius upon the Duke of Bavaria, formerly Bailiff Knight Grand Cross of Justice with Collar of the Constantinian Order of Saint George, thereby further strengthening the historic and longstanding ties between the two Royal Houses.

Tragedies such as the one in Crans-Montana remind us how essential it is to pay attention to the psychological dimension of those who have lost their loved ones, as well as of those who survived but sustained injuries that will accompany them for the rest of their lives.

It is in this spirit that the Order, through the Constantinian Foundation ETS, has chosen to provide concrete support on the ground by assisting the Italian Society of Emergency Psychology (SIPEM), Lombardy section. The families of the victims, the survivors, as well as their classmates and teachers, are facing a profound emotional burden marked by shock, a sense of loss, fear, and unanswered questions. SIPEM psychologists offer them listening, support, and appropriate tools to help them cope with this severe ordeal. Caring for mental health means helping people not to remain alone in their pain and to gradually rediscover a possible sense of balance.

Naples, Sunday, January 18th, 2026 – H.R.H. Princess Maria Carolina of Bourbon Two Sicilies, Duchess of Calabria and Palermo, together with her aunt H.R.H. Princess Beatrice of Bourbon Two Sicilies and Marchesa Federica de Gregorio Cattaneo, Delegate for Naples and Campania of the Constantinian Order, took part in the events scheduled at the “Nunziatella” Military School, a symbolic place of the history and the identity of Naples and Italy.
During the visit, the Princess announced, in agreement with the 83rd Commander of the School, Colonel Alberto Valent, the increase in the scholarship fund named after her, established in 2006 through the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George, reaffirming a concrete and personal commitment to supporting the Nunziatella students.

“I am very happy to be here today at the Nunziatella, together with my beloved Aunt Beatrice. Walking through these places brings to life a history that belongs not only to my family, but also to entire generations of young people who learned the value of service and sacrifice here,” said the Princess. “It is impossible not to think of the emotion felt by my ancestor, King Ferdinand IV, when this School was founded. It still represents a bastion of values and education, capable of speaking to young people about the present and the future.”
“I am deeply moved to see so many female students: it is a sign of an institution that knows how to evolve, that looks to the future with courage, and that increasingly recognizes the central role for women. In their eyes, I see the passion and enthusiasm that make the Nunziatella a truly unique place. Precisely for this reason, I wished to strengthen the scholarship that bears my name: a small gesture to support these young people on their journey of growth.”
